KITCHEN DESIGN TIPS: Choosing Faucets, Sinks, Appliances & Light Fixtures

Published on Dec 12, 2016 133,614 views

Follow our eight-part Kitchen Design Video Series as H&H’s Reiko Caron and contractor Dave Depencier create a dream open-concept kitchen. In this seventh episode, Reiko picks a sleek apron-front stainless steel sink from Home Hardware Building Centre, and chooses to have the faucet installed without its base plate or soap dispenser for aesthetic reasons. Industrial-chic pendant lights add brightness and personality. Get tips on the right height to hang a light fixture in the kitchen and how much distance is needed between a gas range and the range hood. Plus, see how a counter-depth French door refrigerator fits seamlessly into the design.

Contest open to residents of Canada only, excluding Quebec.

Presented by Home Hardware Building Centre.

rneustel 2 года назад I always want a window above the sink or to have the sink in the island, facing out into the room. If you have to do dishes, who wants to face a blank wall?

Stan Rodgers Год назад NO LICENSE is needed for plumbing and electrical work NO PERMIT is required for small repairs IN MOST STATES. This guy sounds like an east coast UNION guy trying to get people to NOT do their OWN work. Home Depot and Lowes are big businesses, because people can do their own work! Many people want to and enjoy it.

Pale Compass Год назад Also, in the US, the permits needed for small repairs are determined by municipalities as well as states, so ask your city building department if you need a permit for your project. This is the department that would issue permits and do inspections of your work (which can be seen as a hassle or helpful; it depends on your attitude). If you fail to get the proper permits for your project, you'll either have to pay a fine or undo what you've done before selling your home. I've found inspection and permitting people to be really helpful. They've spotted poor quality pluming work that I paid for and was able to get fixed before it created a problem.

Christopher Lu 7 месяцев назад Stan, you are absolutely right, I don't like the way the guy talking about plumbing. Most of the people are too afraid to do so, the fact is a lot of the plumbing and electric job can be done on your own, however, you have to have the right knowledge. If you do not feel comfortable doing the job, hire someone professionals.

Pale Compass Год назад Such a bummer. I'd rip out those cabinets as soon as I moved in. Waste of space. And they look cheap.
