  • OMEGGA
OMEGGA 1 месяц назад DarkLink1996 You are aware that this is Smash, the series directed by the guy who wanted Cloud specifically as the Final Fantasy Rep and the guy who wanted the original designs of Simon and Richter over the really bad reboot designs? Sakurai would probably rather harken to the laws of Java Minecraft, including its entire legacy, though it wouldn’t really matter much.
  • DarkLink1996
DarkLink1996 1 месяц назад @OMEGGA The company is no longer indie though, having literally been bought by Microsoft. Also, the original Java release is becoming more and more depreciated

Don´t get me wrong, Samus Returns seems to be a fine game (I wouldn´t know since I don´t own a 3DS), but it looks kinda... bland. Not to mention, their best Castlevania game was more or less a God of War - clone, while their actual take on the Castlevania-formula (Mirrors of Fate) wasn´t that great, to be honest.

  • Jason Garrett
Jason Garrett 1 месяц назад This game is such a multilayered feel good experience. You get a new Zelda. You get a new Crypt of the Necrodancer. You get new Zelda sprite artwork. You get a lot of great remixes of great Zelda music. You get to hear Danny B, FamilyJules, and Adriana living the dream(seriously, look up Jules’ video about Cadence, it’s heartwarming), you get Nintendo taking chances and you get to see an indie developer hit it big. You get playable Zelda. You get someone that Vaati fans will probably dig. And also puns.
  • polyhex
polyhex 1 месяц назад I love how randomized the world is. I started a second save file and was seeing entirely new areas and caves, as well as all the major locations being in totally different places.
  • polyhex
polyhex 1 месяц назад Juan Sanchez If it helps any I had no idea it was randomly generated my entire first playthrough (minus the dungeons obviously) because the overworld map screens are hand-designed and really nice
  • DuskyPredator
DuskyPredator 1 месяц назад I was honestly surprised to learn that it was randomly generated, because I tend to hate that sort of thing, but at least for me it felt pretty natural.
  • BraveBird
BraveBird 1 месяц назад @Benedikt Benstein for what it's worth, the screens themselves ARE pre-designed, but their positions are shuffled and there are far more of them than one game map can hold. this means that enemy encounters and puzzles are all created with care, but there's still incentive for multiple playthroughs

  • AndresLionheart
AndresLionheart 1 месяц назад @Benedikt Benstein This will be no different for you then. The world does feel generic and disconnected. Each map square is self contained with or without a cave or some other secret which leads to an item or a shop. As a long time Zelda fan I noticed the lack of a thought out world after exploring 10 or so squares. The dungeons are the worst offenders since even while being randomized they all feel exactly the same. Still, I liked rogue-lites, this one is no exception. But overall I think it would have benefitted from a single world designed to take advantage of the massive array of Zelda tools that get next to no use.
  • Juan Sanchez
Juan Sanchez 1 месяц назад I’ve tried most of the great roguelikes that people always mention, and I hated them. Maybe it’s just a mental thing, but I can’t get into a game where I know things are procedurally generated. For what it’s worth, I also don’t care at all about replay value.
  • Benedikt Benstein
Benedikt Benstein 1 месяц назад @Jamie Ramshaw Yeah, but I prefer a set level design. That way, the developers can create an intruging, interconnected world. I played all sorts of roguelikes and I hated all of them, so I´m very careful with this one.
  • Jamie Ramshaw
Jamie Ramshaw 1 месяц назад @Benedikt Benstein Why? In this case it makes the game have some replay value, it's not just randomized for the sake of being randomized. It makes the game better.
  • Benedikt Benstein
Benedikt Benstein 1 месяц назад Honestly, that´s whats keeping me away from this game. I hate randomly generated stuff.
  • CapsuleCorpTV
CapsuleCorpTV 1 месяц назад I love how in the game capture, even in areas that don't have the beat at the bottom, you can still see him moving to a beat Haha. It gets so engrained in your muscle memory that I was moving through my switch menus in a rhythm afterwards

lirfrank 1 месяц назад I tried Crypt of the Necrodancer because this game was coming and wasn't very impressed. Cadence of Hyrule seems to have fixed almost all my problems with that game, will give it a try.
  • forastero54321
forastero54321 4 недели назад @JakeB262 I personally think crypt was better -- cadence was far too easy. But cadence was still very fun and it was a treat to hear zelda tunes remixed right.
  • JakeB262
JakeB262 1 месяц назад Definitely do! I felt the same about Crypt, I can never get into roguelike games. But even though this game is procedurally generated its so much more fun keeping your items. And hearing a mix of the two soundtracks is fantastic. Much much better than Crypt IMO

  • NinjaMaster909
NinjaMaster909 1 месяц назад SkeleGem Considering Shovel Knight’s status as practically the face of indie games, I would not be surprised if the two indie games teamed up. Plus it’d be cool to see Shovel Knight with a top down perspective
  • SkeleGem
SkeleGem 1 месяц назад (изменено) LucianoThePig I got that same feeling, and there are a few games that could probably make for great crossovers as well (plus, I kinda just like the idea that Crypt sequels are going to mostly consist of Cadence getting dropped into another world). First one I could think of was Shovel Knight, I mean I’m kind of surprised we haven’t already gotten a crossover there considering how perfect the two series would blend. Shovels, items, and tunes to groove to, it’s just a no brainer in my eyes. Indies like Shantae or UnderTale could be great for their soundtracks, but I wonder how well the combat system of both would work. Something like Enter The Gungeon could make for some fun gameplay, but I’ve little experience with the game so I’m not too certain if it’d be the best possible crossover.
