Phil Kean Designs is proud to be selected to design and build the 2012 New American Home. This year's New American Home is a re-interpretation of the Classic White Box of the 60′s and 70′s that was made so popular by such famous architects and artists as Le Corbusier and Richard Meier. While honoring the architecture of the past, the New American Home represents the priorities that are important to today's lifestyle... details rather than size, leading edge technology, and functional and transitional spaces that have a style and feel that evokes calm and serenity. All this in addition to the architectural significance and environmentally sensitive details found throughout. Comprised of walls of movable glass panels and motorized screens, the floor plan was designed so indoor and outdoor spaces flow into one another. The use of abundant natural lighting within the volumetric and spatial design creates a "wow" factor while also providing a comfortable and serene living environment. At 4,100 square feet, the house will be displayed to appeal to the empty nester, but will have four additional rooms that could be converted to bedrooms if needed. The two bedrooms, a master suite with private workout studio, outdoor yoga deck, private sitting room, and spa-like master bath will be accessible by public stairs or private elevator and will take up the entire second floor. The guest suite is located on the main floor with an en-suite bath. Additional public spaces include an art gallery, an artist studio, three-second floor decks, and a lower level patio covered connecting to the pool and summer kitchen. This home will be unveiled and open to the public at the International Builders Show in February 2012 in Orlando, Florida. In addition, the home will be open to the public as a part of the Orlando Parade of Homes in April 2012. http://philkeandesigns.com/ http://uneekluxurytours.com/
13 BIGGEST Houses From mansions to palaces to crazy people who got money in ways we don't understand these are the 13 BIGGEST Houses. Antilla is the name of a giant futuristic mansion in Mumbai, India and is the first billion dollar residential home to ever exist. It was commissioned by the world’s fifth richest man Mukesh Ambani, who is the owner of the biggest company in India, Reliance Industries. Mukesh’s 27 story mansion towers above the surrounding apartment high-rises and comes complete with a cinema complex, helipads, a health center, and hanging garden. Hala Ranch is a 95 acre estate just north of Aspen, Colorado in the Rocky mountains. Hala Ranch originally belonged to a Saudi Prince named Bandar bin Sultan before it was purchased by an American hedge fund manager named John Paulson.10 years ago Hala Ranch was the most expensive estate ever listed in the U.S., priced at $135 million dollars in 2006. 135 million seems like a fair price for a 56,000 square foot area that trumps the White House in size. 50 Poplar Hill Drive, in Farmington Connecticut is the address of 50 Cent’s crazy crib. His 51, 567 square foot mansion comes complete with all the amenities any rapper could need: 21 bedrooms, 25 bathrooms, an indoor pool, a gym, a basketball court, a green screen studio, a recording studio, and an underground disco room complete with stripper poles. This pimped out mansion is as lavish as they come but has unfortunately cost 50 cent more than a million and has spiraled him into bankruptcy. The Manor, also known as the Spelling Manor named after its previous owners, now belongs to a British heiress named Petra Ecclestone. The Manor is a 56,500 square foot estate in the posh neighborhood of Holmby Hills, California. Previously the most expensive home in America priced at 125, million dollars, it was sold at the low low price of 85 million to the heiress. The Hearst Estate is a huge property that spans several hundred acres and includes a huge ranch and a herd of zebras. The property is actually made up of one main house and several smaller guest houses. Casa Grande, the main house is 65,000 square feet, with the other houses amassing a total of more than 10,000 square feet. This huge house has seen many celebrity guests and has famously been used as a backdrop in the Godfather films. Although originally a residence for the Hearst family, it was registered as a California State Park in 1957 and has been open for tourists to visit since.
Would you like to make your home look more expensive without breaking the bank? I have 5 tips for getting that luxury look for less. I call it more splash then cash. #1 on my list is Crown Molding. A space that lacks crown molding tends to look average. Especially in rooms that are boxy or don’t have much architectural detail. For very little money crown molding provides richness to the space. When picking the molding select a wide trim for more impact. In this case the wider the trim the more expensive the room can look. #2 Throw Pillows are always a fabulous accessory for your couch, loveseat or chair. I say pile on the pillows. One pair on a couch looks skimpy - use two pairs, in contrasting patterns, colors, and textures. Also ignore using a bunch of small 12-18 inch pillows. Opt instead for larger 22 inch pillow cover and stuff them with 24 inch down blend insert. The bigger pillows will have a bigger impact. #3 Upgrading hardware finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms. Most tract homes come with very standard generic hardware. Builders use these bulk items because they are more cost effective, but not always the best for a homeowner that wants a more custom look. Hardware is not that expensive to replace. You can find more unique options at a hardware store, specialty shop or a flea market. #4 I have to say lighting is an area that many people over look. Lighting is another one of those builder’s standard accessories that typically lack character and style. Toss out nondescript chandeliers, pendant lights, bathroom lights and ceiling fans with a more unique designer look. Try scouting second hand stores, flea markets or Craigs list. #5 Nothing says luxury like fresh flowers and plants. The beauty of flowers and plants is that they look wonderful everywhere. I know, I know not everyone can have fresh flowers all the time or maintain green plants. If you have fake flower arrangements and plants make sure they are current. If your faux plants are more than 5 years old they need to be retired. After five years they are dusty, faded and the style of the arrangement is dated. Follow these tips and you can take your home from ordinary to extraordinary and you will see that luxury is in the details! My Links! When architect Julie Nabucet was asked to fit the rooms of a full-sized apartment in a 129-square-foot (12 m2) flat in the center of Paris (Montorgueil quarter), she stacked functions: she elevated the kitchen and rolled a bed-slash-sofa underneath (pulled out halfway, it's a couch; pulled out fully, it's a bed). To separate the cooking area from the sleeping/living room she used plywood boxes stacked as a wall. The boxes facing the kitchen are used as cabinets; those facing the bedroom are used as bookshelves. In the two-square-meter bathroom (21-square-feet), she squeezed an "Italian shower" (wet bath). There wasn't enough space for a sink so she placed this outside the bathroom. To separate it from the kitchen she created a wooden netting that gives a sense of isolation, but allows light to pass through. http://www.julienabucet.com/projets/mini-studio-et-pans-de-bois/ Original story: http://faircompanies.com/videos/view/paris-micro-apartment-stacks-kitchen-bed-bath-in-129-sq-ft/
