How to Become TripAdvisor’s #1 Fake Restaurant

The Shed at Dulwich was the number one rated restaurant in London, with foodies, celebrities and bloggers trying to get a table. The main obstacle for them, however, was that it didn't exist. Over the course of 8 months VICE's Oobah Butler used an assault of fake reviews to get his 'restaurant' to the hallowed top spot on TripAdvisor. With his phone perpetually ringing, PR agencies begging to represent it and TV crews pitching shows, Oobah decided he had no choice but to open its doors for one night only. Here is Oobah's journey into a false reality that captured the world's attention. Hair Braiders In New Jersey Are At Constant Risk Of Losing Their Jobs (HBO)

Hair braiders in many states across the country are at constant risk of massive fines and losing their jobs. The primary reason: state cosmetology boards. Over the past several decades, these boards have lobbied to require licensing for braiding services, despite offering little training in the discipline or justifying why a non-invasive, non-chemical method needs to be so heavily regulated. Now hair braiders and politicians are fighting back against policies they claim disproportionately affect immigrant women of color. VNT goes to one of the states at the center of the debate: New Jersey. Sneaking Into North Korea

Sneaking into North Korea was one of the hardest and weirdest processes VICE has ever dealt with. In North Korea, if you get caught being a journalist when you're supposed to be a tourist, you go to jail, or worse. Our rare footage is some of the craziest ever captured, providing an honest look inside the hermit nation. When Givenchy Needs To Sell A Handbag In China, They Call Mr. Bags (HBO)

Chinese consumers buy a full third of all luxury goods sold across the globe. But they're getting sick of celebrity endorsements. That's where Mr. Bags comes in. Mr. Bags, whose real name is Tao Liang, started out as a college student studying finance. But his real passion was women's handbags, and so he started up a blog about it. The content was simple: reviews of women's handbags, advice on new trends — stuff you'd normally see in a fashion magazine. But Mr Bags struck a nerve among young Chinese who were getting bored with pushy editorials and cheesy advertising, and 4 years and 4 million followers later, he's gone from a tiny blog to being the singular most influential voice in the Chinese handbags industry. And he's not just writing about bags nowadays — he's making them. Prestigious design houses like Givenchy and Tod's have signed him up to design limited-run bags for them. To see how one 26 year old has flipped the Chinese luxury market on its head, watch the video above. Oobah Butler of fake shed restaurant fame is back and this time he’s turned his attention to the world of fashion. Paris Fashion week is iconic amongst A-Listers and fashion inner circles. It's the place where you find all the next big trends, the crème de la crème of fashion weeks. Georgio Peviani was getting loads of attention at PFW.

Buyers from Milan wanted his denim in their stores, the inner-circle wanted him at their showrooms and A-Listers partied with him at night. But the man doesn't actually exist.. does he? This is the time Oobah Butler faked his way into Paris Fashion Week.
